The Disrepair Project is an artisan clothing design studio located in Portland, Oregon. Essentially, Disrepair is a laboratory for creating new life from scraps of the old. Picture Dr. Frankenstein's monster, only made out of clothes. We specialize in reconstructed clothing, and offer a range of styles, prices, and garments for men and women.
The name Disrepair Project represents the concept of repairing and recycling, as well as the beauty of decayed and weathered things. Vintage and recycled materials lend unique character to our designs and offer an alternative to mass marketed style, while reducing unwanted social and ecological impacts.
Disrepair's style draws from many influences, and delights in mixing elements in unlikely ways- Punk, D.I.Y., Goth, Industrial, Indie, Country, Hippie, Rave, Grunge, World, Bohemian, Steampunk, Retro-vintage- nature documentaries or music videos... wherever inspiration hits.
The Disrepair Project represents the work of designer Elijah Stepp. Named in 2006, previous work was sometimes labeled Sewbot or Sonyo Panic. Disrepair is still a small, independent operation. Elijah still does almost all the work himself. Check out the Disrepair Blog, or contact Disrepair for more information.
